The limits
What this site will not do.
On this subject, vagueness does harm. So the limits are on their own page rather than in a footer nobody reads.
Not medical advice
Everything here is educational. Nothing on this site, including anything the AI guide generates, is medical, clinical, psychiatric, psychological or therapeutic advice, and none of it substitutes for a doctor who can see you, examine you and take a history.
This site will not diagnose you, will not tell you whether you are dependent or an alcoholic, will not assess how serious last night was, and will not estimate any risk to you personally. It has no idea what is in your body.
The one hard line
This site will never tell anybody to stop drinking suddenly, and will never set out a taper, a dose, a medication schedule, a timetable or a home detox. It will not tell you to keep drinking to level out either. Withdrawal from physical alcohol dependence can be fatal, and managing it is a clinician's job — and it is not made safer by the fact that you had a dry stretch before this week. Where withdrawal is described here, it is described so that you can recognise it and get help, not so that you can handle it yourself.
No verdict on your slip
This site takes the view that a relapse is information rather than a verdict, and it holds to that in both directions. It will not tell you that the drink meant nothing, and it will not tell you that it means you are back at the beginning. It will not grade one drink against three days, will not decide whether you need to go back into treatment, and will not tell you what it means about your marriage, your job or your character. Those are not things a website can know about you.
Not a treatment provider, and not paid by one
This site is not a clinic, a rehab, a detox unit, a fellowship, a sponsor, a helpline, an intervention service or a placement broker. It does not assess, admit, refer or place anybody. No referral fee, commission, advertising or hospitality has ever been taken from a treatment provider, and no clinic is named here as the best one. Where a prior connection exists — James was a paying patient at Delamere in Cheshire in 2020 — it is declared on the editorial standards page and wherever else it could matter.
No telephone numbers, and no price
This site publishes no telephone numbers, including emergency and crisis numbers, because the right one depends on where you are tonight and a stale number is worse than none. The safety page describes the routes instead.
It also publishes no price for membership. The price lives on the join page at contented.guide and nowhere else, and the guide will never quote, estimate or imply one. Any page claiming a price for this network is not authorised.
What the AI guide is
It is an AI, not James, and it will tell you so. It cannot see you, cannot remember you between sessions unless you are a member, cannot arrange anything, cannot contact anybody, and cannot monitor you or stay with you through the night. It can be wrong. It is bounded deliberately: no diagnosis, no severity rating, no treatment instruction, no clinic recommendation, no price for anything.
It is not a crisis service and this site is not monitored by a person. If tonight is urgent, the safety page is the right page and your local emergency number is the right call.
What you type
Do not name your employer, your clinic, your doctor, your sponsor or other people here, and do not paste documents. Nothing written into a chat window is confidential or privileged. If the drinking has become an employment, licensing or legal matter, that needs a solicitor or your professional body rather than this site.
If any of this reads as unhelpfully cautious, the alternative is a site that hints at medical answers it is not qualified to give, to somebody who drank four hours ago. That is the trade, and it is made deliberately.
